Community-Based Program
Individuals, couples or families can volunteer to be a Big Brother Big Sister, build a friendship
and have fun with a child! Time requirement: six-month or one-year option seeing a child twice per month, hoping
the friendship lasts a lifetime! Interested families enroll in the program and are involved in all program activities.
Sponsor
a Match
$100 per month for 10 months is all it takes. This sponsorship covers the program costs involved in enrolling
a youth and adult (interviews, references, background checks, etc), matching process, and support for a year.
BBBS is part of GenerationLink, a group of local service providers whose focus is
to plan intergenerational programs. Our first endeavor is a Life Biography mentoring project. Youth and adults
are matched to a resident of a local long-term care facility. They interview the resident and collect information
on the residents’ life. The project culminates in a book that will be presented to the residents.
The Union County Military Family Support Group was formed to provide support and activities to local military
families. BBBS offers adult mentors to the children during the period their parent is deployed. Interested families
enroll in the program and are involved in all program activities.
Make It Big Team
Especially
for our Bigs, the Make It Big Team is a monthly gathering of Big Brothers and Big Sisters that provides a fun environment
for sharing, reflection and support through social and educational opportunities. Our goal is to encourage and
foster the recruitment and retention of Bigs.

to our Big Brothers and Big Sisters who are making a difference in the lives of children and giving back to our
