No experience is necessary to be a friend
to a child. The only skills needed are the ability to laugh, have fun, and enjoy the time spent together.

Traditional Program
BBBS matches an adult volunteer (you!) who provides friendship
and shares experiences with a child or youth in need of a friend.
Volunteers can be individuals, married couples or families.
Most of the boys and girls who are waiting for matches are between the ages of 5 and 14.
We are in need of adults who want to be a friend to a child and are at least 18 years of age or older, able
to make a minimum one-year commitment and meet two times a month or more with their Little Brother
or Little Sister (“Little”). |

Community-Based Program
The Community-Based Program matches individuals, couples and families with youth between the ages of 5-14.
As a positive role model, Big Brothers and Big Sisters get together with their Littles twice a month developing
a friendship that will hopefully last a lifetime!!
The Union County Military Family Support Group was formed to provide support and activities to local military
families. BBBS offers adult mentors to the children during the period their parent is deployed. Interested families
enroll in the program and are involved in all program activities.
Current Big and Little matches can participate in our Life Biography Mentoring Project. Youth and adults
are matched to a resident of a local long-term care facility. They interview the resident and collect information
on the residents' life. The project culminates in a book that will be presented to the residents.
***New for 2006***M.O.M.S. (Moms Offering Mentoring Support) pairs an experienced mother with a young
mother or mother-to-be for support with basic life skills and parenting issues. Monthly programs on a variety of
topics are an integral part of the program. |

you already do in your life such as exercising, watching sports, running errands, working on homework, watching
movies or listening to music. Low cost or no-cost activities are encouraged. Big Brothers Big Sisters offers
